Who we are

Ikke i rute makes culture the cornerstone of a radically inclusive democratic practice.

Our projects open spaces for unheard voices, and contribute to exchanges that cross national and institutional boundaries.

We are Sacra and Letícia and Ikke i rute is our love letter to the world. We share a passion for research, cultural work, and making knowledge accessible, relevant and engaging. We work transnationally and across disciplinary practices bringing in our expertise in teaching, curating and advocacy in academia, museums, cultural institutions, and NGOs.

Letícia holds a PhD in Language Studies and is a curator and cultural researcher focused on decolonial perspectives, accessibility, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Sacra holds a PhD in Spanish Literature and Cultural Studies and is first and foremost a teacher, passionate about co-creating learning experiences through collaboration and outreach. Our combined life experience has taken us to work at universities, think tanks and cultural organizations across Europe, the US, and Latin America. Together, we work at the intersection of research and practice, exploring new ways to engage audiences, foster dialogue, and challenge dominant narratives in museums, schools and cultural spaces.

Ikke i rute in Denmark

Our life and work in Denmark takes us through uncharted routes exploring the place of culture in social and environmental sustainability. Ikke i rute makes culture the cornerstone of a radically inclusive democratic practice. Ikke i rute engages in the ongoing conversations about representation, accessibility, and whose stories are being told that make Denmark rank high on measures of equality and quality of life. Ikke i rute works between this framework of progressive values and the recognition that there is still work to be done. We draw a perfect map to bridge disciplines, challenge narratives, and expand the sense of who belongs.

In Denmark, when a bus displays “Ikke i rute”, it means it's not following its usual path or purpose. Just like us. Rather than following predefined paths, we expand the map, creating fresh trajectories, through cultural, artistic and scientific collaboration. We navigate overlooked histories, open spaces for new voices, and contribute to exchanges that cross national and institutional boundaries.

Ikke i rute reflects both a refusal of linearity and a commitment to the multiplicity of futures. We operate from the belief that what is often considered peripheral is in fact central to contemporary cultural production.

What we do

We deliver a range of services that promote inclusion, critical reflection, and cultural exchange across the arts and education settings, including schools and cultural organizations.

Through our cultural, artistic and educational projects, we develop cross-border storytelling formats that amplify diverse perspectives and connect communities across cultures.

Ikke i rute develops curatorial practices to offer a comprehensive museum consultancy service that bridges creative exhibition-making with inclusive, socially engaged practices. We guide institutions through every stage of a project, from research, curatorial development, and design to production planning and assembly, while embedding decolonial, participatory, and educational strategies. Our multidisciplinary approach ensures that each exhibition not only communicates ideas with visual and sensory impact, but also amplifies diverse voices and fosters meaningful, transformative narratives.
